The officials took stock of the situation by interacting with the villagers and returned.

They also carried out an awareness programme on adopting hygienic practices through public address system. The team moved from door to door to explain the importance of cleaning the hands with soap before taking food, drinking boiled water and keeping the cooked food covered with lids.

They collected samples of water from six borewells in the village and sent those for laboratory testing in Nabarangpur. They also carried out spraying of bleaching powder in the water logging spots.

Meanwhile, Dr Arabinda Panda of community health centre (CHC) at Jharigaon said an ambulance will be deployed at the village and MHU and RBSK teams will camp there to meet any emergency situation. However, the cause of dysentery and vomiting has not been confirmed, he said.
