Bijnor News: Horse flu confirmed in 18 horses and mules in the district Bijnor. Horse flu (equine influenza virus) has been confirmed in 18 horses and mules in Najibabad area. This is an infectious disease and other animals also get affected by it. The team of doctors has met the animal owners and instructed them to take precautions.

The team of Horse Research Center Hisar had reached village Ratanpur Khurd, Sahanpur, Mandawali, Narayanpur Ratan of Najibabad area and examined horses and mules. People here buy and sell equine animals. Also, they take their equine animals to transport people to the four Dhams of Uttarakhand. In this area, the team collected samples of 538 equine animals and sent them for examination.

Out of them, infection of equine influenza virus was found in seven samples. After this, on May 27, 18 samples were again collected and sent for examination. The disease was confirmed in 11 of these. Chief Veterinary Officer Dr. Lokesh Agarwal said that animal keepers have been asked to keep the infected animals separate from other animals. They have been told the necessary precautions and instructed to follow them.​
