Jaundice scare at LU hostel</ARTTITLE>
26 Aug 2008, 0419 hrs IST,TNN LUCKNOW: Jaundice is spreading in the hostels of the Lucknow University. As many as six students of the Birbal Sahni hostel have taken ill in last three days.
Though a team sent by the CMO inspected the hostel and provided medicines to the students, university authorities have decided to send these boys home for recovery.
While hostel inmates claimed that contaminated water supply in the hostels was the source of the disease, university officers said that the residences of the teachers and other hostels located in the same vicinity also got water supply from the same source but no such problem had been reported from anywhere else.
"The source could be food, as students often eat out in dhabas outside the campus," said a teacher in the proctorial board.
Nishi Pandey, dean student welfare, when contacted, said that university was providing all help to the ailing students. :tiphat: http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/C...ow/3405397.cms
