Between Wednesday and Thursday, five people had reportedly died in the city in separate incidents. Two people who were grievously injured after a wall collapse in Bajwa road of the city had succumbed to the injuries while undergoing treatment.

Two more deaths were reported in the city on Friday as the toll rose to seven, due to heavy rains and flooding in major parts of the city. A 60-year-old man, Narsinh Vala a resident of Sanjaynagar in Tulsiwadi area of Karelibaug, drowned near his own house late on Thursday night. Vala was rescued and moved to a government primary school along with his family after the rainwater had flooded his house on Wednesday evening.

Assam's overall flood situation improved considerably on Monday though one person lost his life due to drowning taking the total death toll to 91, an official report said.

A population of 42,921 in eight of the 33 districts are currently affected by the floods, though the water level of the Brahmaputra and its tributaries are showing a receding trend, the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) said in its bulletin.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said PM Narendra Modi had assured assistance to those affected by the floods in Kerala.

Kerala, coastal Karnataka, Goa, and coastal Maharashtra are battling a deluge after heavy rainfall in the past few days while a depression over Madhya Pradesh progressed eastward. Heavy rains have also lashed Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh.

At least 22 people have been killed so far in rain-related incidents in Kerala and more than 22,000 people have been moved to 315 flood relief camps across the state as of Friday morning. The Cochin International Airport has suspended operations till 3 pm on Sunday following a rise in water levels in Periyar river and an adjacent canal.

KOCHI/BENGALURU (Reuters) - The death toll from floods in India's states of Karnataka, Kerala and Maharashtra rose to 95, official figures showed on Saturday, as heavy rain and landslides forced hundreds of thousands to evacuate their homes.

In Gujarat, 98 persons have died due to floods and torrential rains this season. Incessant rains lashed across state's 251 tehsils over the last 24 hour. The highest rainfall of 15 inches was recorded in Barwala of Botad district. The entire state has received an overall of 3 to 15 inches of rain. In the last 12 hours, two buildings collapsed due to incessant rains claimed 10 lives. At least four died after a three-storey apartment building collapsed in Nadiad's Pragatinagar in Gujarat's Kheda district on late Friday night. Four persons died in another building collapse in Ahmedabad. In Surat, mother-son duo was electrocuted to death. Earlier, 88 deaths were recorded in the state due to rain and flood related incidents.

A cloudburst hit Uttarkashi region of Uttarakhand on Sunday, flattening homes in several villages and leaving many residents trapped.

Major damage was reported in Arakot, Makudi and Tikochi villages of the state. All the three villages are connected to Himachal Pradesh and the road joining them has been washed away due to the cloudburst.

"The death toll in floods in Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara, Solapur and Pune has reached to 56 while two persons are still missing. Most of the deaths have occurred in Kolhapur and Sangli districts, which were worst hit due to floods," said Deepak Mhaisekar, Divisional Commissioner, Pune.

As per the figures available so far, 1519 houses were damaged completely in floods while 19,780 partially.

"The government has so far disbursed Rs 31.84 crore to 63,697 flood affected families," he said.

Continuous rains and swollen rivers have left 19 dead in rain-related incidents in Uttar Pradesh.

A Central Water Commission report released on Thursday morning said that Ganga was flowing in ?above normal to severe flood? state at Kachhla Bridge in Badaun District, Ghazipur in Ghazipur District and Ballia in Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh.

People in Ballia had to take refuge on rooftops as the river Ganga also entered their houses. ?As many as 15 persons have died due to rain related incidents in different districts of the state. The figure included three deaths in Amethi, two each in Raebareli, Sonbhadra and Mirzapur and one death each in Saharanpur, Hamirpur, Pratapgarh, Fathepur, Basti and, Ayodhya,? according to the Relief Commissioner?s office. Apart from this, four more have died in Ballia and Bhadohi.
