73 cases reported in Puducherry; officials say there is no need to panic
During the month of October, a total of 73 persons tested positive for dengue in Puducherry, three in Karaikal and one in Mahe. However, most of the cases that came to the Union Territory for treatment were from the neighbouring States.
According to Medical Superintendent of Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research J. Balachander, as many as 26 cases were referred to JIPMER in October out of which five cases were from Puducherry. The remaining were from Tamil Nadu.
Although there have been 73 cases in the Puducherry, none of them have been serious so far and no deaths have been reported, Assistant Director (Malaria) T. Kalimuthu told The Hindu .

A suspected dengue patient died in Batala town of the district from where three fresh cases were reported, even as the health authorities said that they had no information about any dengue death. Harish Chander, a social worker, was admitted to a private hospital with dengue fever and he died there on Wednesday night, his family said.
Senior Medical Officer of the civil hospital, Sukhdeep Singh, however said that they had no information of any dengue death.

Most dengue cases in 14-45 age group: PMC analysis

PUNE: Dengue-causing mosquitoes have infected the highest number of people between 14 and 45 years of age, an analysis of 451 patients done by the health department of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) shows.
As many as 333 people between 14 and 45 years of age have so far tested positive for dengue antibody in Pune city, the report said.
"We have analysed the data of dengue infected patients to see which age group is the most vulnerable. Among the 451 patients, 333 people, the highest, are in the productive age group between 14 and 45 years of age. This group moves from one place to another, exposing themselves to different environments," said Shyam Satpute, assistant medical officer health (AMoH) and head of the insect control department of the PMC.

The dengue menace is far from getting over in the Pink City. After having claimed several lives in and around the state capital, the dengue sting has got even more threatening.
A 30-year-old woman died. She was suffering from dengue fever for the past few days. She died at a private hospital of the city on Wednesday.
Another victim from Amber area has been reported to be in a critical condition and is going under treatment at the same hospital.

Iluwara Moran?s family took her to the Laluko Medical as she was devoured with high fever. As an upshot of treating Iluwara without any prior examination of her ill health, her condition began to deteriorate.
