Of the 14 confirmed cases of dengue reported on Friday in the district, all, except four, cases are from the rural areas and that too the Vilappil block.

SPECIAL ALERT

A special alert has been sounded in Vilappil block for health workers to intensify source reduction and other control measures as the 10 dengue cases were reported from Balaramapuram, Pallichal, Maranellore, Malayinkeezh and Kalliyoor, all under Vilappil block.

SUSPECTED CASES

Apart from the confirmed cases, 22 suspected cases of dengue have also been reported from various parts of the district.

As many as 1,293 new fever cases were reported from the district on Friday.

A total of 175 suspected cases and 140 confirmed cases of dengue have been reported from the district so far this June.

MLA H S Prakash revealed that 11 cases of dengue have been detected in the city according to the recent survey organised jointly by city municipal council (CMC) and health department recently.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Saturday, Prakash assured that there is no reason to panic. He said one person, who had been infected by dengue on a visit to another, has died due to dengue in the city until now.

14 cases of dengue reported on Monday

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Fourteen dengue cases were reported in the district on Monday with the majority of them from the city corporation limits. A total of 1,521 fever cases were reported in different hospitals of the district of which 101 patients have been admitted.

Five cases of dengue were reported from Pettah, three each from Vallakadavu and Kodappanakkunnu, two from Karamana and one from Thirumala. Apart from this, 16 other suspected cases were also reported from the district.

Dengue scare back in Odisha

BHUBANESWAR: With the arrival of monsoon, the specter of dengue has returned to haunt the state. Six persons have tested positive for the disease from various parts of the state so far this year. The state government, on its part, has stepped up efforts to control the mosquito-borne disease.

The health department said in a statement that of the 72 samples tested this season, two were found positive in Angul which had seen around 25 deaths last year. Among others, two persons tested positive in Cuttack and one each in Jajpur and Kendrapada.

82 Dengue Cases Reported from Dakshina Kannada

Bangalore, Jun 20: A total of 82 dengue cases have been reported from coastal Dakshina Kannada district this year.

This information was given by Dr E V Ramana Reddy, Secretary of Karnataka?s
Department of Health and Family Welfare, in Bangalore on Wednesday.

Dr Reddy has directed all District Health Officers (DHOs), directed them to take steps to control dengue.

The Dakshina Kannada district also has the highest number of Malaria cases in the State, he said in an official press release.

Eight more dengue, one chikungunya cases reported

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Even as dengue fever cases are on the rise in the state capital, the first case of chikungunya in June was reported from Beemapally on Thursday. However, the district health administration has assured that there was no cause for concern as the virus has not been found active this time. This year only 30 cases of chikungunya were reported from the district.

However, eight more dengue cases were reported in the state capital on Thursday. About 33 suspected cases have also been detected from the district. About 1,376 fever cases have been reported at various government hospitals of the district of which 113 patients have been admitted.

15 new dengue cases in district

One Chikungunya case and two leptospirosis cases also reported

Fifteen new and confirmed cases of dengue fever and 20 suspected cases have been reported from various parts of the district.

Health officials here said on Friday that almost all cases were reported from the corporation wards, prominently, Aruvikkara, Muttakkad, Nemom, Ayurveda College, Karikkakam and Peroorkada.

One confirmed case of Chikungunya was reported from Beemapally while two leptospirosis cases were confirmed from Kodunganoor and Vallakkadavu. About 1,430 new cases of fever were reported in the district from the outpatient clinics in various hospitals while another 100 fever cases were admitted in hospitals.

Over 45 cases of dengue reported in Bangalore

BANGALORE: Five people have lost their lives to dengue in Karntaka since January 2012, but none in Bangalore. The city has reported 45 positive cases of dengue as per the recent report given out by BBMP. In the last 14 days, there have been 13 positive cases reported in the city. There were ten cases reported in the month of May.

On Tuesday, Bangalore Mayor D Venkatesh Murthy had a meeting with the health officers of the Palike and instructed them to submit a report everyday on the about the dengue cases reported across the city.

The city ahs also reported three cases of mosquito borne viral disease Chikungunya...

850 dengue cases in six months

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The dengue cases in the state capital are heading for an all-time record, with 850 cases reported in six months this year. The dengue cases in the corporation area are also on the rise. According to the statistics from the district health administration 70% of the dengue cases reported from the district are from the corporation area.

The state capital witnessed such an outbreak in 2010 and 2011 when 1,145 and 980 cases were reported. In 2006 it was 656, in 2007 it was 290, in 2008 it 503 and in 2009 it was 805 cases. But going with the pace the virus is spreading, the state capital is set record an all-time high this year.

The worst ever dengue outbreak the state had witnessed was in 2003, when 3,546 cases were reported from the state and there were 68 deaths. That year the state capital reported 789 cases. However, the district health administration has made it clear that there was no cause for concern...

92 test positive for dengue

As many as 92 patients have tested positive for dengue at the Baptist Hospital, Hebbal in June and more than 20 cases were reported in May.
According to the doctors at the hospital, the number of cases were increasing gradually and most of the patients between 20 and 50 years, suffering from joint pain and fever, were getting admitted.

There has been a considerable increase in the paediatric cases, with nearly 30 per cent of the total number of cases confirming dengue.

Mosquitoes back, so is dengue

Dengue seems to have struck the city with the onset of monsoon. Since June 1, St Philomena Hospital has registered 121 dengue cases, the state-run Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital has registered 25 cases in the last one week, and other hospitals too are reporting five to six suspected cases every day.
Dr Shankar Prasad, medical superintendent, St Philomena Hospital, said: “There has been a rise in the number of dengue cases. Our laboratory tests show that we have had 121 positive cases since June 1. We have sent the blood samples to the National Institute of Virology at Victoria Hospital. Most of the cases are from Austin Town, Ejipura and Viveknagar."

Dengue deaths rise in Kolar district; 45 victims this year

‘Vectors of disease thrive in water stored for weeks in houses’

Dengue has claimed 45 lives in the district so far this year, according to Dr G Prakash Kumar, district health officer.

In his report submitted to the Zilla Panchayat on June 21, he had stated that 32 cases of dengue deaths were reported and in four days it has increased to 45.

Suspected dengue deaths in Mulbagal

Rakesh, 8, of Majara Venkatapur village in the taluk, died of suspected dengue fever on Thursday at the Kolar Medical College.

Rakesh had been suffering from fever for four days before being admitted to a private hospital. When the fever did not subside he was moved to the Kolar Medical Hospital for further treatment, but did not survive.

Earlier cases

Last month, a child from the same village had died of fever. The death is also suspected as being caused by dengue. Though the issue had been brought to notice of the Health Department, no action had been taken, alleges Ramachandrappa Reddappa of the village.

NEW DELHI: While Delhiites are waiting for monsoon to set in, vector-borne diseases have already started spreading. Four dengue cases and over 61 cases of malaria have been reported to date. Municipal health officer, Dr N K Yadav, said mosquito-breeding has been found at 12000 offices and households in the city.
