92 test positive for dengue

As many as 92 patients have tested positive for dengue at the Baptist Hospital, Hebbal in June and more than 20 cases were reported in May.
According to the doctors at the hospital, the number of cases were increasing gradually and most of the patients between 20 and 50 years, suffering from joint pain and fever, were getting admitted.
There has been a considerable increase in the paediatric cases, with nearly 30 per cent of the total number of cases confirming dengue.

Mosquitoes back, so is dengue

Dengue seems to have struck the city with the onset of monsoon.
Since June 1, St Philomena Hospital has registered 121 dengue cases, the state-run Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital has registered 25 cases in the last one week, and other hospitals too are reporting five to six suspected cases every day.
Dr Shankar Prasad, medical superintendent, St Philomena Hospital, said: “There has been a rise in the number of dengue cases. Our laboratory tests show that we have had 121 positive cases since June 1. We have sent the blood samples to the National Institute of Virology at Victoria Hospital. Most of the cases are from Austin Town, Ejipura and Viveknagar."

Dengue deaths rise in Kolar district; 45 victims this year

‘Vectors of disease thrive in water stored for weeks in houses’
Dengue has claimed 45 lives in the district so far this year, according to Dr G Prakash Kumar, district health officer.
In his report submitted to the Zilla Panchayat on June 21, he had stated that 32 cases of dengue deaths were reported and in four days it has increased to 45.
