Chickenpox Chunakara Block PHC, Palamel PHC, Palamel MC, Palamel 39 0 02/03/2012 2012-03-08 13:18:33 791 The outbreak happened in Archana college campus (both nursing & engineering affected) Cause of onset of outbreak : The nursing students were posted in Aranmula, Erumakad ward, under Vallana CHC, Pathanamthitta for community health posting. The area had cases of C. POX. The index case Thara devi developed fever on 2-3-12. The posted student joined the college on 3-3-12. The students resided in common hostel. Nil Intimation given to college by health authority to close the college for ten days. The C. pox infected students was send along with their parents and were isolated from other students soon after identification of cases. DSU of concerned districts informed regarding the address of affected students. Investigation Open College closed, the area under close surveillance by DSU and peripheral surveillance unit.

Chennai, which is already experiencing summer temperatures, is reeling under an outbreak of chicken pox, say city pediatricians.

Hospitals such as Child Trust and Apollo Children?s Hospital receive at least seven cases a week each, with some doctors treating entire families for the disease.

?This year, the trend of adults contracting the disease and then passing it on to their kids seems to be on the rise,? says consultant pediatrician Dr J.K. Reddy, pointing out that people living along the Kerala border seem to be the worst hit, as they do not seem to have had exposure to the infection in their childhood.

The affected were residing in the mud plastered houses. There was no cleanliness in their houses at all. Sample yet to be collected and tested. Paracetamole, Cetrazine and Multi Vitamin Syrup were provided. Investigated by Members of Rapid Response Team(Epidemiologist and Medical Officer) at 04:30 P.M On 22.03.2012 Investigation Open No New Cases have been reported. Medical Team Constituted by Manjha PHC visited the affected area and provided the required medicines. House-to-House visit is being done by the ANM in the affected area on daily basis. Situation is Under Control right now. Males were more affected then Females. Age group 8-12 were more affected. The affected were advised to reside in isolation, maintain cleanliness within house and in the surrounding areas as well.

Beloved daughter came in the grip of chickenpox Rajendra 5 years after the daughter Preeti Rajendra 8 years, daughter Rima Nanhe 16 years, son Sandeep Subas 10 years, 5 years and Kiran Madan gunja daughter nearly two dozen children, including daughter Bhukl 17 years of the outbreak victim. Then there is fear on the Purvon.

In Krishna home unhygenic condition and no awre of the active tranmission through air&contact with other studnts cause the outbreak. - The affected Krishna home has disinfected by swabing the floor day by day with bleaching powder mixed with water . Persanal protection and individual hygine instructed by the health staffs. chlorination has been done day to day with level of residual chlorine 2ppm . Investigation Closed Isolation of the infected persion,disinfect the inner and outer area of the home, to improve the personal hygienic conditon of the individuals etc.
