Black Quarter (BQ) epidemic hits state, cattle begin to perish

Imphal, April 08 2012: Outbreak of Black Quarter (BQ), a common disease among the cattle, has been reported in different parts of the state with large number of cattle already dying from the dreaded diseases.

The Veterinary Department has, however, taken up certain measures to control the epidemic and process is underway to vaccinate all cattle in the infected areas and beyond.

Talking to Hueiyen Lanpao, Dr K Gopal of Animal Disease section, Veterinary Department, informed that outbreak of Black Quarter (BQ) epidemic has been reported in some parts of the state and veterinary doctors of the Department have visited and inspected the affected areas.

He further informed that during the course of an investigation in Imphal West, an official team of led by Joint Director of Imphal West Veterinary Office, came across that around 19 cattle have died from Black Quarter disease...
