Nagaland reports outbreak of African Swine Fever

DIMAPUR, Jan 14: The Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, Government of Nagaland, has notified to the general public that the outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) has re-occurred in some parts of the state of Nagaland.
This was confirmed through the RTPCR (Real Time Polymerase Chain Reaction) Test by the North Eastern Regional Disease Diagnostics Laboratory (NHDRDDL), Khanapara, Guwahati from the samples submitted from Longjongkong and Satier villages under Mokokchung district and Kuzatu village, Wazeho Block under Phek district of Nagaland, according to the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services.

African swine fever: 16 more pigs die in Mizoram
Mizoram has already banned the import of pigs and pork products from other states after ASF cases broke out this year.

At least 16 more pigs died of African Swine Fever in Mizoram with the toll due to the disease rising to 770 in the state in a little over two months, an official said.

At least 124 pigs have been culled to prevent the spread of the infection since February this year, he said.

“Besides, 205 pigs have died due to suspected African Swine Fever. At least 17 villages in Aizawl, Champhai, Lunglei and Saitual districts have been affected due to the outbreak,” animal husbandry and veterinary department joint director Dr Lalhmingthanga said...

Shillong, Apr 26 (PTI) Veterinary authorities on Tuesday confirmed the outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) in Umsning block in Meghalaya’s Ri-Bhoi district, following which the government banned the movement of pigs in the area.

The North Eastern Regional Disease Diagnostic Lab in Guwahati has confirmed the outbreak of the ASF as the sample sent on April 13 has tested positive, a senior Veterinary Department official told PTI.

Necessary instructions have been issued, banning slaughter and movement of pigs, and supplies at Umshorshor village and its nearby areas, he said...

IMPHAL: The contagious African swine fever (ASF) has been detected at a piggery farm in Manipur’s Kamjong district, officials said on Thursday.

The ASF outbreak was confirmed amongst the pigs in Dang Farming located under Grihang village in Manipur’s Kamjong district after laboratory test reports, which were sent outside the state, were received on May 30, a senior official of the state veterinary and animal husbandry department said.

“The investigation is underway to establish the source of the disease,” the official added. ..

African Swine Fever menace in Assam – 21 pigs die in Dibrugarh

Guwahati: An outbreak of African Swine Fever or ASF – a highly infectious hemorrhagic viral disease of pigs – has been reported from two separate locations in eastern Assam’s Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts.

Following this, authorities will be carrying out a culling operation in Dibrugarh district today. In Dibrugarh district, the disease has been reported from Bhugalipathar forest village under Khowang development block where 21 pigs have died so far after getting infected from ASF.

The administration has already marked the village as the ‘epicenter’ for the disease under the provision of ‘The Prevention and Control of Infectious and Contagious Diseases in Animals Act, 2009’. ..
