Uttar Pradesh Health Minister Jai Pratap Singh, on Tuesday confirmed six positive cases of coronavirus in Uttar Pradesh and said all of them have been shifted to Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital.

"A family went on a trip to Europe and after returning to India, they showed symptoms of deadly COVID-19. Soon after, the samples of 13 members of the family were taken. Out of them, six have been found positive," the minister said.

All six, including two shoe exporters, belonging to Agra, have been shifted to Safdarjung hospital in Delhi, he added. The decision was taken after a close relative of the exporters, who too had visited Italy with them, tested positive for COVID-19 in Delhi.

They had visited Italy last month.

Noida school shuts amid Coronavirus fear, all exams cancelled

New Delhi: A private school in Uttar Pradesh's Noida was shut down on Tuesday (March 3) after it was reported that one of the parents of the student studying in the school tested positive on Monday. The Uttar Pradesh Health Authorities conducted necessary medical checks at the school and sent the sample of the student for testing.


Union Ministry of Health said on Monday that the man had a travel history of Italy. He had thrown a birthday party in Agra on Friday which was attended by several people, including two students of the school. The people who attended the party are also under scanner.

Hyderabad: A software employee from Hyderabad tested positive for coronavirus on 1 March and is currently admitted to Gandhi Hospital. More details about the 24-year-old techie’s travel itinerary have been released.

Sources have confirmed that he had travelled to Bengaluru from Dubai on an Indigo flight on 20 February. While the passengers on the Indigo flight are yet to be tracked down, the government of Karnataka has said the process to contact the passengers is underway.

From Bengaluru, the techie travelled to Hyderabad on a GO Tour Travels and Holidays sleeper bus on 22 February. The bus, which left Bengaluru at 9 p.m, reached Secunderabad on 23 February around 7 a.m. Sources said 17 passengers, out of the 27 passengers on the bus, could be from Andhra Pradesh.

NEW DELHI: A group of Italian tourists have been put in quarantine in India, with 17 testing positive for the new coronavirus, a source told AFP Wednesday.

Italy is a hotspot of the deadly virus with 79 deaths and more than 2,500 infected, while India's official case total stands at only 21.

After two out of a group of 23 tourists who arrived in the country last month tested positive in the western state of Rajasthan, the other 21 were put under quarantine in a special facility in New Delhi on Tuesday.

Another case in Jaipur, wife of the already confirmed Italian patient, has been confirmed for COVID-19.

14 Italians and one Indian, who were part of the team of the Jaipur COVID-19 confirmed case, are also initially confirmed positive for COVID-19.

Six (6) family members at Agra, who are family members of the COVID19 confirmed case from Delhi, are confirmed for COVID-19.

In addition, two cases with high viral load have been detected in Telangana.

New Delhi: Health Minister Harsh Vardhan today briefed members of the Rajya Sabha on the steps taken by India to control the outbreak of the highly contagious Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19. Another person was today found infected by the virus, taking the number of positive cases in India to 30. The highly contagious virus was first detected at a seafood market in China's Wuhan in December last year.
"We're confronted with new challenges... We have started a containment facility in Agra," the Health Minister said. "We are particularly concerned about Indian pilgrims and students stranded in Iran (where the coronavirus cases are high). The Indian government is following up with Iran on their condition," Harsh Vardhan said.

The central government confirmed three more positive cases on Saturday, with two of them from Ladakh.

Health Ministry in a statement said that the two people who tested positive in Ladakh had travelled to Iran. The third case was from Tamil Nadu with travel history to Oman.

“All the cases are stable. So far as the two American nationals are concerned, who were found positive in Bhutan with travel history of various places in India, more than 150 contacts have been put under integrated disease surveillance network surveillance,” the ministry said...

With fresh cases of coronavirus arising on Sunday, the number of positive cases across the country has gone up to 40. The maximum number of confirmed coronavirus cases has been reported from the National Capital Region - as many as 19.

A Delhi resident, who had a travel history to Italy was the first one to test positive from the region. The largest chunk of those who tested positive for the virus in Delhi/NCR comes from a group of Italian nationals who were confirmed for the virus at ITBP’s quarantine facility in Chhawla, Delhi last week. As many as 14 Italian tourists, along with an Indian national, had confirmed positive for the virus. The group had travelled to Rajasthan wherein two other Italian tourists tested positive for coronavirus in Jaipur.

A Paytm employee from Gurugram, a person in Ghaziabad and a man from Uttam Nagar also tested positive for coronavirus earlier this week from the NCR region...

The total number of coronavirus cases in India has risen to 59 on Tuesday with fresh cases reported in Kerala, Karnata and Maharashtra.

According to reports, 12 more people have tested positive for coronavirus in the country including 6 in Kerala and 3 each in Karnataka and Pune.

Amid COVID-19 or coronavirus scare, a combination of two anti-HIV drugs has been used for the first time in India in the treatment of two patients.

A media report quoted the union health ministry as saying that the total number of confirmed cases has risen to 50, adding the rest are being retested for confirmation.

12 new cases in one day as Covid-19 spreads its wings in India

New Delhi, March 11 (IANS): The number of novel coronavirus cases in India mounted to 62 as 12 new confirmed cases were reported on Tuesday.

"Among the new cases, eight were reported on Wednesday from Kerala and one each from Rajasthan and Delhi. The total cases in the country include three Kerala patients who have recovered and have been discharged from the hospital," the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Wednesday.

In the evening, Mumbai went into high alert after two persons tested positive for coronavirus, taking the total afflicted in the state to seven, including five in Pune...

76-year-old Karnataka man first to die of coronavirus in India
The man had recently returned from Saudi Arabia. Earlier, the district health and family welfare department said the man was suspected to be infected with coronavirus.
