His wife of 54 years hospitalized for over a month in serious condition in hospital Tercentenary in Olinda, may have even a prion disease. Blood samples from patients were sent to Sao Paulo to research and present evidence that you may have in fact a variant of prion disease, a group which is part of the "mad cow disease," the hospital's director, Gil Brazilian.
The confirmation of cases of this type of disease can only be made after the death of patients by specific tests. "These tests [that were made in Sao Paulo] confirm that the case has all possibilities to be prion disease, as well as the EEG. Although not known how the disease was contracted by the wife, the Health Department of Pernambuco had reported that the disease is not communicable and that there is no chance of survival for the patient.
