The first case of the 'Nimbus' variant of Covid in Italy was identified in Genoa at the San Martino hospital in a 69-year-old haematological patient who underwent a nasopharyngeal swab during an outpatient visit. This was confirmed by the coordinator of the regional hygiene laboratory and Ligurian contact person of the Higher Institute of Health Giancarlo Icardi, interviewed by Ansa. 'The 'Nimbus' is one of the variants of Covid under monitoring and interest because worldwide it is taking over the others - explains Icardi - already in the United States it was over 50% in terms of isolations, in Italy it had not yet been highlighted, this is the first case, so it seems that it is also spreading in our country. It is not an aggressive variant, it is more easily transmissible but it has nothing to do with the virulence that the virus had at the beginning of the pandemic or with the first variants'.
