Two students at New Palestine Elementary School have a contagious illness, and school officials want to alert parents.
The cases have been confirmed to be whooping cough, or pertussis, and have affected a pair of first-graders, according to an e-mail from Mark Kern, the school principal. These are the first two cases at the building this school year, he said...
Fishers -- Health officials have confirmed seven cases of pertussis -- also known as whooping cough -- among students attending Hamilton Southeastern schools, a district spokeswoman said.
"I wouldn't call it an outbreak necessarily," said Marianna Richards, the school district's spokeswoman. "But we have a number of confirmed cases..."
