INDIANAPOLIS (WANE) - State health officials confirmed five cases of measles in Noble County Tuesday. The respiratory disease is highly contagious.

The Indiana State Department of Health said it is working with local health departments and health care providers to identify additional cases of measles and to prevent further transmission of the disease.

In addition to Noble County , the state said several surrounding counties may be affected: Allen , DeKalb , Elkhart , Kosciusko , LaGrange , Steuben , and Whitley ...

5 cases of measles verified in Noble County outbreak

Five cases of measles were confirmed Tuesday in Noble County as state health officials investigate an unvaccinated Indiana resident who recently returned from an international trip.

The cases are all related ?in a general sense? and can be traced back to an adult who traveled abroad and contracted the highly contagious respiratory disease, Indiana Health Commissioner Gregory Larkin said.

The infected individual returned stateside within the past week and has had ?close contact? with members of his community since then, Larkin added. The outbreak may have affected seven surrounding counties as well, officials said...

Noble issues measles advisory, offers free immunizations
The Journal Gazette

The Noble County Health Department is asking anyone who develops cold-like symptoms and believes he or she might have been exposed to the measles virus to stay home and away from other people.

If the symptoms are accompanied by with a high fever, contact your physician.

There will be a free immunization clinic from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday at the Noble County Health Department, 2090 Indiana 9 in Albion.

"If you were born after 1957 and have not had two doses of the measles vaccine, please come to the free immunization clinic," Friday's advisory from the Noble County Emergency Management said.

If you have questions or other concerns, call the health department at 260-636-2978 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

KENDALLVILLE ? State and county health officials now are reporting eight confirmed cases of measles in northeast Indiana as of Wednesday afternoon. Seven of those cases are in Noble County, and one is in LaGrange County, according to Amy Bukarica, spokesperson for the Indiana Department of Health...

Noble County confirms 12 cases of measles

Indiana health officials are on high alert after a spike in measles cases recently.

So far a total of 156 cases have been reported nationwide to the CDC. In Indiana fourteen cases have been confirmed in Noble and Lagrange County...

ALBION — The number of confirmed measles cases in Noble and LaGrange counties rose by one this week to a total of 14, acccording to Noble County health nurse Cheryl Munson.

Measles outbreak in retreat
