Death may have been flu related

(First Flu related death in Imperial County this season)?The death was announced by the local Public Health Department.
It is possible the death could be related to H1N1. The middle-aged man entered the emergency room at a local hospital on October 4 with flu-like symptoms, including shortness of breath and fever. The man is not being identified for privacy reasons. The County Coroners office say the Health Department took a swab of the victim. Four tests were conducted. One came back positive for H1N1, the other three were negative. The victim suffered underlying health conditions, one of which was possible pneumonia. County Health Officer Doctor Stephen Munday said in a press release that this sad occurrence in the community is a reminder that complications from the flu need to be taken seriously. He said as a community, we need to continue to be vigilant and take the necessary steps to prevent the flu. Munday says it is important high risk individuals receive the seasonal flu vaccine and the H1N1 flu vaccine once it becomes available.
