The number of people hospitalized in Illinois with swine flu since April has topped 2,000.
The state's weekly update shows eight new deaths and 389 new hospitalizations connected with the virus. The Illinois Department of Public Health released the new count today.
There have been 64 deaths and 2,001 hospitalizations in Illinois since the global epidemic began last spring.
More than 1.8 million doses of swine flu vaccine have been shipped to Illinois. The state's Health Department has an online tool that shows where vaccine is available in each county.
Also Wednesday, U.S. health officials said there's no evidence the swine flu vaccine is causing any serious side effects
