ROCKFORD ? The Winnebago County Health Department is investigating an outbreak of whooping cough associated with cases in Rockford schools and the individuals? immediate family members.

The cases are in seven schools: Auburn and Jefferson high, West Middle, and Carlson, Haskell, Riverdahl and West View elementary. The outbreak has so far affected 24 people, ages 2 to 42...
