Ideas on efficient and effective dissemination of H1N1 information

I'm not sure if a thread on this topic has been started. I was inspired to start this one after reading the thread about FT/Florida1 being invited to the Media Session in D.C.

It would be interesting if Hollywood voluntarily placed 3 minute public service messages in the beginning of all theatrical movie releases when the pandemic moves to a higher severity level. Using media personalities for these messages might be effective but it would be more effective if Gandalf, Darth Vader, Rambo, Neo, Harry Potter, Shrek, Spiderman, Lion King, or some other easily recognized movie character delivered the message.

Hell, the message would probably be more entertaining than most of the lame movies out there. Slipping these remarkable messages in the latest video rental DVDs might help too when you consider that DVD players have a higher penetration in homes than computers and Internet. Scrolling a message across the bottom of the TV might be effective but I think most people tune them out because of sensory overload.

Put posters on the inside of public bathroom doors, where the person is a captive audience.

LOL! This is what we in the nursing profession refer to as "potty training" - we are forever being bombarded with toilet-side memos.

Quite effective, actually.

Yes, that's a great idea! And it's the idea of a captive audience or a focused situation that I think would be more effective than an overload of flu messages on radio, television, and billboards.

Here's an idea: how about a simple, colorful and entertaining message about influenza printed on breakfast cereal boxes?. You know people like to read whatever is on the boxes when eating their cereal. OMG - it's Captain Crunch as the new Surgeon General of Influenza education!
