Remember the flu?

The graph shows flu deaths in Idaho for the last five flu seasons. The colored portions of the bars on the plot show the proportion of deaths for four major regions of Idaho. Central and southeastern Idaho overall have seen fewer deaths than the southwestern and northern portions of the state.

BLACKFOOT, ID
At a time when everyone has forgotten winter, it may come as a surprise that there are still three weeks left to flu season. The percentage of outpatient visits due to influenza in Idaho is currently less than a half a percent; however that's not news. What is notable is this flu season has been the second deadliest ever for Idaho.
The flu death toll for 2017-18 is 99 and the season is not yet over. The only deadlier Idaho flu season in recorded history for was the Spanish Flu of 1918-19. Several hundred Idahoans died, though an exact total is not available since not all communities reported their dead.
The notable thing about this flu season is the rather-average rate of outpatient visits compared to the number of deaths.
