Since September 1, 2009, with the availability of confirmatory diagnostic testing for 2009 H1N1 at commercial laboratories, the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare has limited confirmatory 2009 H1N1 testing at the Idaho Bureau of Laboratories to individuals from designated surveillance sites, those hospitalized with suspected influenza, persons working in a hospital setting, pregnant women, or as a part of a possible outbreak in a facility or other special setting under investigation by the local public health district.
