Kirkwood student found with bacterial meningitis

All Kirkwood Community College students, faculty and staff were recently notified of a case of N. meningitidis on campus, or more commonly called bacterial meningitis.

It is currently believed only one Kirkwood student has contracted this illness. The details of when, where and how the student received this serious illness has not been released.

Kirkwood President Dr. Lori Sundberg said, ?My thoughts are with the student affected and I am hopeful for a complete and speedy recovery.?

Kirkwood, Linn County Public Health and the Iowa Department of Public Health are working closely together to limit the spread of the illness...
