The Nébih laboratory confirmed the presence of the highly pathogenic bird flu virus in another settlement in the county of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg.

In the Nyírbátor settlement of the Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county, there is a colony of 114,000 mallard ducks, where tests confirmed the appearance of the H5N1 subtype of the virus. The lack of appetite and lethargy of the animals drew the attention of the animal keeper to the possibility of the disease - Agro Napló learned from the announcement of the National Food Chain Safety Office.

The affected stocks are being liquidated. A protection zone with a radius of 3 km was designated around the affected farm, and a surveillance (observation) zone with a radius of 10 km was defined. An epidemiological investigation is underway to reveal the causes of the disease's appearance...

Hungary announces the discovery of an outbreak of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza
Analyzes • January 5, 2024 • Florin Marinescu

Hungary discovered an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 at a pheasant farm in the Jasz-Nagykun-Szolnok county, in the east of the country, the Hungarian Veterinary Sanitary Authority (NEBIH) informed on Friday, reports the MTI agency, quoted by Agerpres.

NEBIH ordered the creation of protection and surveillance zones around the farm in Abadszalok, and approximately 7,000 pheasants were slaughtered.

So far, there are no reported cases of bird flu virus transmission from birds to humans, but the discovery of such outbreaks has forced the start of slaughter campaigns, and farmers have been ordered to keep the birds closed.

Bird flu has also reached the county of Somogy
Thursday, November 14, 2024

This time, the laboratory of the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) detected the presence of the highly pathogenic bird flu virus in Somogy County. In addition, the disease was also identified in a new area of the county of Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok, which was already affected by the infection. The liquidation of the affected herds and the epidemiological investigation are in progress.

The animal health authority confirmed the highly pathogenic avian influenza virus in the fattening turkey colony of approximately 3,370 individuals in the Mike settlement of Somogy county, and the 3,870 liver goose colony in Zagyvarékas, Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok county, with 3,870 individuals. In both cases, the reduced feed and water consumption, as well as the increased mortality, raised the suspicions of the livestock keepers. Finally, the Nébih laboratory detected the H5N1 subtype of the virus from the dead animals.
The affected stocks are being liquidated. A protective zone with a radius of 3 km was designated around the farms, and a surveillance (observation) zone with a radius of 10 km was set up.

The current cases also show that bird flu is present in almost the entire country, so it is extremely important for livestock keepers to exercise caution, not only in areas already affected, but also in areas free of bird flu...
