THE Health Service Executive have issued a stern warning that visiting restrictions remain in place at the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Dooradoyle and have asked visitors not to attend the hospital unless it is "absolutely essential".
The HSE said that visiting restrictions remain in place this week due to the increase in the influenza cases being treated at the facility.
The Limerick Leader understands that the intensive care unit in the Regional hospital, which was operating at full capacity last week, is currently operating at normal levels, with five in ICU and four in theatre.
However, it is understood that up to 10 people were admitted with suspected cases of swine flu in recent weeks.
