Multimedia: Pandemic flu exercise in Howard County
RICHARD SIMON
Multimedia Reporter

Howard County health officials set up test sites last night to find out how efficiently they can distribute medicine during an emergency ? such as a flu pandemic.

The chosen test sites were Ellicott City?s Chateau Ridgelake neighborhood and the Hammond Elementary/Middle School neighborhood in Laurel.

Multimedia Reporter Richard Simon was in Ellicott City, recording the door-to-door delivery of ?medication? (in reality, snacks or hand sanitizer). County Health Officer Dr. Peter Beilenson, interviewed in the story below, says Howard is the first jurisdiction on the East Coast to do a similar test.

The Laurel test involved gathering citizens at a centralized point of distribution for the medicine.
