Hong Kong hospitals on Thursday reported two more deaths related to flu A/H1N1.
According to Hong Kong Tuen Men hospital and Hong Kong Queen Elizabeth hospital, a 72-year-old female patient and a male patient aged 84 with past good health died Thursday due to continued deterioration of clinical condition.
In response to the recent influenza situation in Hong Kong, the Hospital Authority (HA), in close collaboration with the Center for Health Protection, has activated the enhanced monitoring system for severe influenza patients staying in the intensive care units of public hospitals.
The HA spokesman said as of 2 p.m. Thursday, two newly confirmed cases of flu A/H1N1 had been admitted to intensive care units, including a 56-year-old male patient who is in critical condition, and a 13-month-old baby girl patient who is in serious conditions.
Currently, there are a total of 29 influenza patients staying in the intensive care units of public hospitals in Hong Kong, including the above two newly confirmed cases.
