Hong Kong: ILI and HFMD situation update (10/08/10)

[Source: Centre for Health Protection, Hong Kong PRC SAR, View Original Article.]

The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health did not receive any reports of influenza-like illness (ILI) outbreaks in schools during the 24 hours ending at noon today (October 8).

A report about a hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) outbreak involving two persons in one school was received during the same period.

The above brought to 61 and 102 respectively the cumulative totals of ILI and HFMD outbreak reports since the start of the new school term in September.

A CHP spokesman said, "As the number of ILI and HFMD outbreaks has become stable in the past two weeks, daily updates will not be issued from next Monday onwards.

''Members of the public should refer to the weekly updates on the CHP's website (www.chp.gov.hk) for the latest ILI and HFMD developments."
