There are 246 patients under isolation currently. So far, 811 patients who had COVID-19 confirmed or probable infections have been discharged upon recovery.

The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health has announced that as of 4pm today (April 28), no new confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been recorded, and that the number of cases in Hong Kong remains at 1 038 so far (comprising 1 037 confirmed cases and one probable case).

The CHP again urged members of the public to maintain an appropriate social distance with other people as far as possible in their daily lives to minimise the risk of infection. In particular, they should go out less and avoid social activities such as meal gatherings or other gatherings to reduce the chance of contacting infected persons who may not present any symptoms, and minimise the risk of outbreak clusters emerging in the community.

A spokesman for the CHP said, "Given that the situation of the COVID-19 infection remains severe and that there is a continuous increase in the number of cases reported around the world, members of the public are strongly urged to avoid all non-essential travel outside Hong Kong.

"The CHP also strongly urges the public to maintain at all times strict personal and environmental hygiene, which is key to personal protection against infection and prevention of the spread of the disease in the community. On a personal level, members of the public should wear a surgical mask when having respiratory symptoms, taking public transport or staying in crowded places. They should also perform hand hygiene frequently, especially before touching the mouth, nose or eyes.

"As for household environmental hygiene, members of the public are advised to maintain drainage pipes properly, regularly pour water into drain outlets (U-traps) and cover all floor drain outlets when they are not in use. 　　Meanwhile, the CHP is investigating an overseas confirmed case. The case involves a 32-year-old male patient confirmed positive with COVID-19 in the UK, who took flight CX252 (Economy class) by Cathay Pacific from London arriving in Hong Kong on April 28. He was transferred directly from Hong Kong International Airport to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital for management immediately upon arrival. His respiratory sample had tested positive for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2. He is in a stable condition.

The CHP again urged members of the public to maintain an appropriate social distance with other people as far as possible in their daily lives to minimise the risk of infection. In particular, they should go out less and avoid social activities such as meal gatherings or other gatherings to reduce the chance of contacting infected persons who may not present any symptoms, and minimise the risk of outbreak clusters emerging in the community.

The newly reported cases announced today involve a 34-year-old male and a 16-year-old female. Both of them are returnees from Pakistan who arrived in Hong Kong on a chartered flight yesterday (April 30). The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health has announced that as of 4pm today (May 6), no new local confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) had been recorded, and that the number of cases in Hong Kong remained at 1 041 so far (comprising 1 040 confirmed cases and one probable case).

The CHP again urged members of the public to maintain an appropriate social distance with other people as far as possible in their daily lives to minimise the risk of infection. In particular, they should go out less and avoid social activities such as meal gatherings or other gatherings to reduce the chance of contacting infected persons who may not present any symptoms, and minimise the risk of outbreak clusters emerging in the community.

A spokesman for the CHP said, "Given that the situation of COVID-19 infection remains severe and that there is a continuous increase in the number of cases reported around the world, members of the public are strongly urged to avoid all non-essential travel outside Hong Kong.

"The CHP also strongly urges the public to maintain at all times strict personal and environmental hygiene, which is key to personal protection against infection and prevention of the spread of the disease in the community. On a personal level, members of the public should wear a surgical mask when having respiratory symptoms, taking public transport or staying in crowded places. They should also perform hand hygiene frequently, especially before touching the mouth, nose or eyes.

"As for household environmental hygiene, members of the public are advised to maintain drainage pipes properly, regularly pour water into drain outlets (U-traps) and cover all floor drain outlets when they are not in use. The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health has announced that as of 4pm today (May 7), the CHP was investigating four additional confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), taking the number of cases to 1 045 in Hong Kong so far (comprising 1 044 confirmed cases and one probable case).

The newly reported cases announced today involve four males aged between 11 and 47. All of them had a travel history during the incubation period. The CHP's epidemiological investigations and relevant contact tracing on the confirmed cases are ongoing. For case details and contact tracing information, please see the Annex.

The CHP urged members of the public to maintain an appropriate social distance with other people as far as possible in their daily lives. In particular, they should go out less and avoid social activities such as meal gatherings or other gatherings to reduce the chance of contacting infected persons, who may not present any symptoms, and minimise the risk of outbreak clusters emerging in the community.

The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health (DH) has announced that as of 4pm today (May 11), no new local confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) have been recorded, and that the number of cases in Hong Kong remains at 1 048 so far (comprising 1 047 confirmed cases and one probable case).

Meanwhile, the CHP is investigating an overseas case. The case involves a 70-year-old female patient who took flight BA27 (economy class) on British Airways from London arriving in Hong Kong on May 10. Her deep throat saliva sample tested positive for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 and she was transferred directly from Hong Kong International Airport to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for management. She is currently in a stable condition. According to the patient, she had received a test whose result was positive for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 in the United Kingdom (UK). The CHP has contacted the health authority in the UK to obtain more information about the case.

　　A spokesman for the CHP said, "All recent reported cases recorded locally had a travel history during the incubation period. The CHP urges members of the public arriving in Hong Kong to approach the DH's Port Health Division (PHD) officers immediately for follow-up when respiratory symptoms develop. Passengers who have been confirmed as COVID-19 cases abroad, even if they are asymptomatic currently, should approach PHD officers upon arrival to reveal their relevant history for appropriate follow-up by the DH."

　　Meanwhile, the CHP has noticed that a number of Hong Kong residents, who were earlier stranded in areas of unknown epidemic situation, have been returning to Hong Kong lately. These areas include Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Nepal and South Africa. Given limited epidemic information available on the above areas and after reviewing the capacity of quarantine centres, the DH will adopt a prudent approach for these returnees. The DH will continue the current arrangement of transferring the returnees from the above areas (including those arriving by chartered flights or other flights) in coaches to the quarantine centre for a 14-day compulsory quarantine period after collecting their deep throat saliva samples at the DH's Temporary Specimen Collection Centre at AsiaWorld-Expo for compulsory COVID-19 testing upon arrival. The CHP will closely monitor the situation locally and overseas, and will adjust the arrangement in a timely manner if necessary.

The CHP will further extend its Enhanced Laboratory Surveillance Programme, which provides a free testing service for COVID-19, to cover staff members currently working at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) starting this Friday (May 15).

A spokesman for the CHP said, "Airport workers belong to the higher-risk groups as they have more frequent contact with arriving passengers who have been to places with high incidence of COVID-19. The enhanced testing of this group may help in early detection of possible cases of COVID-19 infection and reduce the risk of community outbreaks.

"The DH's personnel will set up a service point at a designated location at HKIA to provide specimen containers to the relevant airport workers. They are required to collect their deep throat saliva samples by themselves in accordance with the instructions, and to return the specimen containers to the designated location at HKIA. The current daily testing quota is 500 persons."

Meanwhile, the CHP is working out feasible ways to further extend its Enhanced Laboratory Surveillance Programme to cover staff members working at residential care homes for the elderly, residential care homes for persons with disabilities and nursing homes.

As at noon today (May 14), in the past 24 hours one COVID-19 confirmed patient (case number: 699) has been discharged from hospital. So far, a total of 1 009 confirmed and suspected patients have been discharged.

At present, there are 673 negative pressure rooms in public hospitals with 1 251 negative pressure beds activated. A total of 39 confirmed patients are currently hospitalised in 11 hospitals, among which one patient is in critical condition (case number: 595), three patients are in serious condition (case numbers: 338, 461 and 713), and the remaining 35 patients are in stable condition.

The Hospital Authority will maintain close contact with the Centre for Health Protection to monitor the latest developments and to inform the public and healthcare workers on the latest information in a timely manner.

CHP investigates additional confirmed case of COVID-19

The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health has announced that as of 4pm today (May 14), the CHP was investigating an additional confirmed case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), taking the number of cases to 1 052 in Hong Kong so far (comprising 1 051 confirmed cases and one probable case).

The CHP will further extend its Enhanced Laboratory Surveillance Programme, which provides a free testing service for COVID-19, to cover staff members currently working at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) starting tomorrow (May 15) for early detection of possible cases of COVID-19 infections and reducing the risk of community outbreaks. The CHP will set up a service point at a designated location at HKIA, which runs from 8am to 4pm on Mondays to Fridays (excluding public holidays), to provide specimen containers to relevant airport workers. They should collect their deep throat saliva samples by themselves in accordance with the instructions, and return the specimen containers to the designated location at HKIA. The current daily testing quota is 500 persons.

The newly reported case announced today involves a 62-year-old male. The CHP's epidemiological investigations and relevant contact tracing on the confirmed case are ongoing. For case details and contact tracing information, please see the Annex.

The CHP urged members of the public to maintain an appropriate social distance with other people as far as possible in their daily lives. In particular, they should go out less and avoid social activities such as meal gatherings or other gatherings to reduce the chance of infection by contact with infected persons, who may not present any symptoms, and minimise the risk of outbreak clusters emerging in the community.

A spokesman for the CHP said, "Given that the situation of COVID-19 infection remains severe and that there is a continuous increase in the number of cases reported around the world, members of the public are strongly urged to avoid all non-essential travel outside Hong Kong.
