CHP investigates 69 additional confirmed cases of COVID-19

The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health (DH) has announced that as of 0.00am, August 13, the CHP was investigating 69 additional confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), taking the number of cases to 4 313 in Hong Kong so far (comprising 4 312 confirmed cases and one probable case).

Among the newly reported cases announced, four had a travel history during the incubation period.

The CHP's epidemiological investigations and relevant contact tracing on the confirmed cases are ongoing. For case details and contact tracing information, please see the Annex or the list of buildings with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the past 14 days and the latest local situation of COVID-19 available on the website "COVID-19 Thematic Website" (www.coronavirus.gov.hk).

In view of the severe epidemic situation, the CHP called on members of the public to avoid going out, having social contact and dining out. They should put on a surgical mask and maintain stringent hand hygiene when they need to go out. As a number of recent cases involve elderly people, the CHP strongly urged the elderly to stay home as far as possible and avoid going out. They should consider asking their family and friends to help with everyday tasks such as shopping for basic necessities.

A spokesman for the CHP said, "Given that the situation of COVID-19 infection remains severe and that there is a continuous increase in the number of cases reported around the world, members of the public are strongly urged to avoid all non-essential travel outside Hong Kong.

"The CHP also strongly urges the public to maintain at all times strict personal and environmental hygiene, which is key to personal protection against infection and prevention of the spread of the disease in the community. On a personal level, members of the public should wear a surgical mask when having respiratory symptoms, taking public transport or staying in crowded places. They should also perform hand hygiene frequently, especially before touching the mouth, nose or eyes.

"As for household environmental hygiene, members of the public are advised to maintain drainage pipes properly, regularly pour water into drain outlets (U-traps) and cover all floor drain outlets when they are not in use. After using the toilet, they should put the toilet lid down before flushing to avoid spreading germs."

Tuen Mun Hospital announces passing away of COVID-19 patient (2)

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

The spokesperson for Tuen Mun Hospital (TMH) announced today (August 13) that an 82-year-old male patient confirmed with COVID-19 (case number: 2745) passed away today.

The patient with chronic disease was admitted to TMH on July 26 due to fever and cough. His condition continued to deteriorate and he eventually succumbed at 9.12pm today.

The Hospital was saddened about the passing away of the patient and would offer necessary assistance to his family.

Including the above case, 66 COVID-19 confirmed patients have passed away in public hospitals so far.

DH Kennedy Town Community Complex Dental Clinic staff member preliminarily tests positive for COVID-19

The Department of Health announced today (August 13) that a staff member of its Kennedy Town Community Complex Dental Clinic has tested preliminarily positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) tonight. In consideration of public health and hygiene, the clinic will be closed for thorough cleaning and disinfection immediately. Affected clients will be contacted to reschedule their service appointments, and the General Public Session of the clinic tomorrow (August 14) will be suspended.

​The staff member concerned is a clerical grade staff with no recent travel history. He is a household contact of a confirmed case announced today. He developed symptoms while waiting for admission to quarantine camp and was sent to hospital for testing. He was notified of the preliminary positive result tonight.

The staff member last went to work yesterday. His body temperature was normal during temperature screening before commencing duty on that day. He wore a mask and followed relevant disease prevention measures at work. In the past 14 days of his duty, he mainly performed duties in the office and made no contact with members of the public at work.

The CHP's epidemiological investigations and relevant contact tracing are ongoing to identify and trace close contacts of the staff member.

In view of the current epidemic situation, dental clinics have stepped up infection control measures, including temperature screening for all visitors before clinic entry and conducting health declaration. Dental services has been strictly implementing various disease prevention measures during the epidemic, which include providing employees with masks and other protective equipment, and stepping up the cleaning and sanitising measures of the clinics. All dental services' staff members are wearing mask at work and practising hand hygiene at all times. The DH is highly concerned about the COVID-19 situation and has reminded all staff again to maintain personal hygiene and be vigilant at all times.

A female security guard employed by Housing Department's car park contractor tests positive for COVID-19

The Housing Department (HD) today (August 14) learned that a female security guard employed by its car park contractor was tested positive for COVID-19. She is now staying at hospital for treatment

The concerned security guard works at Lai King Estate car park in Kwai Chung, and is responsible for patrolling and guard booth duties at morning shift. She last performed duties on August 10.

She has no recent travel history. She has been wearing a face mask and observing relevant disease prevention measures at work. When performing duties, she has been undergoing temperature checks and her body temperature was normal.

Work areas of concerned security guard have been thoroughly cleaned and disinfected in accordance with the guidelines of the Centre for Health Protection (CHP).

The HD will continue to keep close liaison with the CHP and co-operate with its quarantine work.

Public hospitals daily update on COVID-19 cases

As at 9am today (August 14), 97 COVID-19 confirmed patients were discharged from hospital in the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 3 392 patients with confirmed or probable infections have been discharged.

At present, there are 685 negative pressure rooms in public hospitals with 1 247 negative pressure beds activated. A total of 829 confirmed patients are currently hospitalised in 18 public hospitals, a community isolation facility and a community treatment facility, among which 30 patients are in critical condition, 48 are in serious condition and the remaining 751 patients are in stable condition.

The Hospital Authority will maintain close contact with the Centre for Health Protection to monitor the latest developments and to inform the public and healthcare workers on the latest information in a timely manner.

Hongkong Post contract clerical staff member tests positive for COVID-19

Hongkong Post today (August 14) said that a contract clerical staff member tested positive for COVID-19.

The clerical staff member concerned works at 3/F of Hongkong Post Headquarters. Engaged in word processing duties, he needs not come into contact with any members of the public, and his workplace is not open to the public. The staff member concerned last performed duties on August 5. As he had been identified as a close contact of a confirmed case, he was sent to a quarantine centre and was tested for COVID-19. He was notified today of the positive result.

The staff member concerned has no recent travel history. He has been wearing surgical masks when performing duties. His body temperature was normal when undergoing temperature screening during work.

After noting the situation, Hongkong Post reported the case to the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) to seek its assistance in tracing and defining his close contacts. A thorough cleaning and sterilisation will be arranged immediately for the workplace concerned and all public facilities according to CHP guidelines.

Hongkong Post will continue to maintain close liaison with the CHP. Staff are also reminded to pay attention to personal hygiene and stay vigilant at all times. In case of feeling unwell, they should seek medical advice immediately.

The spokesperson for the Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital (PYNEH) today (August 14) announced that a 69-year-old male patient confirmed with COVID-19 (case number: 3782) passed away today.

The patient with chronic disease was admitted to PYNEH on July 30 due to shortness of breath. His condition deteriorated on August 5 and he was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit. His condition continued to deteriorate and he eventually succumbed at 4.58pm today.

The Hospital was saddened about the passing away of the patient and would offer necessary assistance to his family members.

Including the above case, 67 COVID-19 patients have passed away in public hospitals so far.

Kowloon Hospital announces nurse tested preliminarily positive for COVID-19

The spokesperson for Kowloon Hospital (KH) made the following announcement today (August 14) regarding a nurse who tested preliminarily positive for COVID-19:

A female nurse of an extended care ward at KH was informed by the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) on August 12 that her mother had tested positive for COVID-19 and she was classified as a close contact due to household contact. She presented with sore throat and fever and attended the Accident and Emergency Department of United Christian Hospital in the morning on the same day. Her COVID-19 test result was preliminarily positive yesterday (August 13) and she has been admitted to Tseung Kwan O Hospital for treatment under isolation. The nurse is in stable condition and her last working day was on August 11.

The hospital's infection control team immediately initiated contact tracing. The nurse concerned is responsible for general clinical and nursing care duties in a ward. She has worn appropriate personal protective equipment as well as performed vigilant hand hygiene at work. She did not come into contact with any COVID-19 patients in the hospital and was not required to perform high-risk medical procedures for patients over the past two weeks.

Initial investigation indicated that three staff members in the ward have had meals during meal breaks with the nurse concerned. One of them is listed as a close contact and needs to be quarantined for 14 days. The other two staff members have been classified as other contacts and will be put under 28 days of medical surveillance. So far, no patient has been classified as a close contact.

As a precautionary measure, COVID-19 tests were arranged for a total of 24 patients in the ward and other staff members who have worked together with this nurse in the ward. All the test results were negative.

The hospital has already conducted thorough cleaning and disinfection of the affected ward. KH will continue to closely monitor the health of the staff and patients and communicate with the CHP about the latest situation.

COVID-19 testing service extended to employees of franchised bus companies, kaito operators and driving schools as well as private driving instructors

The Transport Department (TD) announced today (August 14) that, in order to enhance the anti-epidemic measures, the COVID-19 testing service, which has been provided to the transport trades since mid-July, will be extended to employees of franchised bus companies, kaito operators, designated driving schools, driving improvement schools and pre-service training schools for public light bus drivers, as well as private driving instructors, starting from next Monday (August 17).

For employees of franchised bus companies, the contractor of the testing service will provide swab self-sampling kits to the franchised bus companies starting from August 17. The companies will arrange for distribution and collection of swab self-sampling kits and collection of specimens collected from their employees for testing by the contractor of the testing service.

Kaito operators and their employees can bring along their staff identity cards or letters issued by the operators together with their valid Hong Kong identity cards and visit the designated swab self-sampling kit distribution points at specified time periods on August 18 and 19 for registration and collection of the kits on-site to conduct self-sampling of specimens and should return the specimen bottles to the distribution points as soon as possible. The contractor of the testing service will arrange laboratory testing of the specimens collected.

Private driving instructors holding valid driving instructor licences or employees with staff identity cards or letters issued by driving improvement schools/pre-service training schools for public light bus drivers can bring along the above-mentioned papers and their valid Hong Kong identity cards and visit the designated swab self-sampling kit distribution point at specified time periods on August 20 and 21 for registration and collection of the swab self-sampling kits on-site to conduct self-sampling of specimens and should return the specimen bottles to the collection point as soon as possible. The contractor of the testing service will then send the specimens to laboratories for testing.

The addresses, opening dates and hours of the swab self-sampling kit distribution and specimen bottle collection points are provided in the Annex.

Furthermore, the contractor of the testing service will provide swab self-sampling kits to the designated driving schools, which will in turn arrange for distribution and collection of the kits to their driving instructors and employees and arrange with the contractor for testing of the specimens collected.

The testing is voluntary and free of charge. The contractor will not retain the personal data of the participants. If a participant's test result is positive, the contractor will notify the TD on the specimen serial number. For a specimen serial number that belongs to an employee of a kaito operator, a driving improvement school or a pre-service training school for public light bus drivers, or a private driving instructor, the TD will relay the details of the participant concerned to the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) for its follow-up. For a specimen serial number that belongs to an employee of franchised bus company or a designated driving school, the TD will notify the company concerned to relay the employee's information directly to the CHP.

Each participant can conduct the test through the scheme once only. The TD appeals to the employees of franchised bus companies, kaito operators, designated driving schools, driving improvement schools and pre-service training schools for public light bus drivers, as well as private driving instructors, to actively participate in the testing to ensure public health and minimise risks of the spread of the virus in the community. Taxi and public light bus drivers who have not participated in the testing service from July 17 to August 14 can also visit the points as shown in the Annex to collect swab self-sampling kits for testing. To prevent pneumonia and respiratory tract infections, members of the public should always maintain good personal and environmental hygiene. They are advised to:

• Wear a surgical mask when taking public transport or staying in crowded places. It is important to wear a mask properly, including performing hand hygiene before wearing and after removing a mask;
• Perform hand hygiene frequently, especially before touching the mouth, nose or eyes, after touching public installations such as handrails or doorknobs, or when hands are contaminated by respiratory secretions after coughing or sneezing;
• Maintain drainage pipes properly and regularly (about once a week) pour about half a litre of water into each drain outlet (U-trap) to ensure environmental hygiene;
• Cover all floor drain outlets when they are not in use;
• After using the toilet, put the toilet lid down before flushing to avoid spreading germs;
• Wash hands with liquid soap and water, and rub for at least 20 seconds. Then rinse with water and dry with a disposable paper towel. If hand washing facilities are not available, or when hands are not visibly soiled, performing hand hygiene with 70 to 80 per cent alcohol-based handrub is an effective alternative;
• Cover your mouth and nose with tissue paper when sneezing or coughing. Dispose of soiled tissues into a lidded rubbish bin, then wash hands thoroughly; and
• When having respiratory symptoms, wear a surgical mask, refrain from work or attending class at school, avoid going to crowded places and seek medical advice promptly.

CHP investigates 44 additional confirmed cases of COVID-19

The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health (DH) has announced that as of 0.00am, August 17, the CHP was investigating 44 additional confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), taking the number of cases to 4 525 in Hong Kong so far (comprising 4 524 confirmed cases and one probable case).

Among the newly reported cases announced, 13 had a travel history during the incubation period.

The CHP's epidemiological investigations and relevant contact tracing on the confirmed cases are ongoing. For case details and contact tracing information, please see the Annex or the list of buildings with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the past 14 days and the latest local situation of COVID-19 available on the website "COVID-19 Thematic Website" (www.coronavirus.gov.hk).

A spokesman for the DH reminded travellers that its Temporary Specimen Collection Centre (TSCC) will be relocated to the Midfield Concourse in the restricted area of Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) tomorrow (August 18). From 4am tomorrow, those arriving in Hong Kong via HKIA will be required to proceed to the TSCC set up in the restricted area of HKIA for collecting their deep throat saliva (DTS) samples immediately upon arrival. They will need to stay at the TSCC to wait for test results, which will usually be available on the same day before they can proceed with immigration procedures and collection of their checked-in baggage. As the waiting time could be up to 12 hours or more, travellers are advised to prepare to carry with them all necessities in sufficient quantities before boarding the plane.

Passengers whose test results will not be available on the same day (usually passengers arriving in the afternoon or at night) can proceed with immigration procedures right after their DTS samples are collected at the TSCC. They will subsequently be taken to the DH's Holding Centre for Test Results (HCTR) in a hotel by coaches arranged by the DH to wait for their test results. The DH will start using Dorsett Tsuen Wan, Hong Kong, today as the HCTR. The DH also expressed gratitude to Regal Oriental Hotel and its staff for their assistance in fighting the epidemic over the past months.

The DH will make flexible arrangements according to the capacity of the facilities and the daily number of passengers arriving on afternoon flights. If necessary, inbound travellers arriving in the afternoon could also be arranged to wait for test results at the TSCC.

In view of the severe epidemic situation, the CHP called on members of the public to avoid going out, having social contact and dining out. They should put on a surgical mask and maintain stringent hand hygiene when they need to go out. As a number of recent cases involve elderly people, the CHP strongly urged the elderly to stay home as far as possible and avoid going out. They should consider asking their family and friends to help with everyday tasks such as shopping for basic necessities.

A spokesman for the CHP said, "Given that the situation of COVID-19 infection remains severe and that there is a continuous increase in the number of cases reported around the world, members of the public are strongly urged to avoid all non-essential travel outside Hong Kong.

"The CHP also strongly urges the public to maintain at all times strict personal and environmental hygiene, which is key to personal protection against infection and prevention of the spread of the disease in the community. On a personal level, members of the public should wear a surgical mask when having respiratory symptoms, taking public transport or staying in crowded places. They should also perform hand hygiene frequently, especially before touching the mouth, nose or eyes.

"As for household environmental hygiene, members of the public are advised to maintain drainage pipes properly, regularly pour water into drain outlets (U-traps) and cover all floor drain outlets when they are not in use. After using the toilet, they should put the toilet lid down before flushing to avoid spreading germs."

Public hospitals daily update on COVID-19 cases

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

As at 9am today (August 18), 78 COVID-19 confirmed patients were discharged from hospital in the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 3 677 patients with confirmed or probable infections have been discharged.

At present, there are 689 negative pressure rooms in public hospitals with 1 251 negative pressure beds activated. A total of 751 confirmed patients are currently hospitalised in 19 public hospitals, a community isolation facility and a community treatment facility, among which 31 patients are in critical condition, 38 are in serious condition and the remaining 682 patients are in stable condition.

The Hospital Authority will maintain close contact with the Centre for Health Protection to monitor the latest developments and to inform the public and healthcare workers on the latest information in a timely manner.

Queen Elizabeth Hospital announces passing away of COVID-19 patient

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

The spokesman for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) announced today (August 18) that a 64-year-old female patient confirmed with COVID-19 (case no: 1602) passed away this afternoon.

The patient with chronic diseases was admitted to QEH on June 19 due to her underlying diseases. The ward she was admitted to was later found to have a cluster of COVID-19 cases suspected of nosocomial infection. Her condition deteriorated and eventually succumbed at 5.58pm today.

The hospital was saddened about the passing away of the patient and would offer necessary assistance to his family.

Including the above case, 71 COVID-19 confirmed patients have passed away in public hospitals so far.

United Christian Hospital announces passing away of COVID-19 patient

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

The spokesperson for the United Christian Hospital (UCH) today (August 19) announced that an 86-year-old male COVID-19 confirmed patient (case number: 1767) passed away today.

The patient was admitted to UCH on July 14 due to fever and was confirmed positive for COVID-19. After treatment, the patient's condition improved and he tested negative for COVID-19. He was released from an isolation order by the Department of Health on July 28. However, the patient developed secondary bacterial pneumonia and continued to stay in hospital for treatment. He was medically unstable and eventually succumbed at 12.08am today.

The Hospital was saddened about the passing away of the patient and would offer necessary assistance to his family.

Including the above patient, 72 COVID-19 patients have passed away in public hospitals so far.

The spokesperson for the Prince of Wales Hospital today (August 20) announced that a 72-year-old female patient confirmed with COVID-19 infection (case number: 1568) passed away this evening.

The patient with underlying disease was admitted to the Hospital due to fever on July 13. She was later confirmed positive for COVID-19 and her condition was stable. She had been deteriorating subsequently and eventually succumbed at 7.04pm today.

The Hospital was saddened about the passing away of the patient and would offer necessary assistance to her family members. Including the above case, 74 COVID-19 patients have passed away in public hospitals so far.

As at 9am today (August 21), 73 COVID-19 confirmed patients were discharged from hospital in the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 3 900 patients with confirmed or probable infection have been discharged.

At present, there are 690 negative pressure rooms in public hospitals with 1 251 negative pressure beds activated. A total of 603 confirmed patients are currently hospitalised in 19 public hospitals, a community isolation facility and a community treatment facility, among which 30 patients are in critical condition, 35 are in serious condition and the remaining 538 patients are in stable condition.

The Hospital Authority will maintain close contact with the Centre for Health Protection to monitor the latest developments and to inform the public and healthcare workers on the latest information in a timely manner.

CHP investigates 27 additional confirmed cases of COVID-19

The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health has announced that as of 0.00am, August 21, the CHP was investigating 27 additional confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), taking the number of cases to 4 632 in Hong Kong so far (comprising 4 631 confirmed cases and one probable case).

Among the newly reported cases announced, nine had a travel history during the incubation period.

The CHP's epidemiological investigations and relevant contact tracing on the confirmed cases are ongoing. For case details and contact tracing information, please see the Annex or the list of buildings with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the past 14 days and the latest local situation of COVID-19 available on the website "COVID-19 Thematic Website" (www.coronavirus.gov.hk).

In view of the severe epidemic situation, the CHP called on members of the public to avoid going out, having social contact and dining out. They should put on a surgical mask and maintain stringent hand hygiene when they need to go out. As a number of recent cases involve elderly people, the CHP strongly urged the elderly to stay home as far as possible and avoid going out. They should consider asking their family and friends to help with everyday tasks such as shopping for basic necessities.

A spokesman for the CHP said, "Given that the situation of COVID-19 infection remains severe and that there is a continuous increase in the number of cases reported around the world, members of the public are strongly urged to avoid all non-essential travel outside Hong Kong.

"The CHP also strongly urges the public to maintain at all times strict personal and environmental hygiene, which is key to personal protection against infection and prevention of the spread of the disease in the community. On a personal level, members of the public should wear a surgical mask when having respiratory symptoms, taking public transport or staying in crowded places. They should also perform hand hygiene frequently, especially before touching the mouth, nose or eyes.

"As for household environmental hygiene, members of the public are advised to maintain drainage pipes properly, regularly pour water into drain outlets (U-traps) and cover all floor drain outlets when they are not in use. After using the toilet, they should put the toilet lid down before flushing to avoid spreading germs."

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

As at 9am today (August 24), 34 COVID-19 confirmed patients were discharged from hospital in the last 24 hours. In the list of discharged patients released yesterday (August 23), the case number of one of the patients was given as 4399 mistakenly. The correct case number is 4396. A total of 4 052 patients with confirmed or probable infection have been discharged so far.

At present, there are 682 negative pressure rooms in public hospitals with 1 239 negative pressure beds activated. A total of 526 confirmed patients are currently hospitalised in 19 public hospitals, a community isolation facility and a community treatment facility, among which 27 patients are in critical condition, 37 are in serious condition and the remaining 462 patients are in stable condition.

Man sentenced for breaching compulsory quarantine order
***********************************************


A 40-year-old man was sentenced to immediate imprisonment for 14 days by the Kwun Tong Magistrates' Courts today (August 24) for violating the Compulsory Quarantine of Certain Persons Arriving at Hong Kong Regulation (Cap 599C) (the Regulation).

The man was earlier issued a compulsory quarantine order stating that he must conduct quarantine at the place of quarantine for 14 days. Before the expiry of the quarantine order, he left the place of quarantine without reasonable excuse nor permission given by an authorised officer and was stopped by staff of the Immigration Department at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Control Point on March 9. He was charged with contravening sections 8(1) and 8(5) of the Regulation and was sentenced by the Kwun Tong Magistrates' Courts today to immediate imprisonment for 14 days.

Pursuant to the Regulation, starting from February 8, save for exempted persons, all persons who have stayed in the Mainland, Macao or Taiwan in the 14 days preceding arrival in Hong Kong, regardless of their nationality or travel documents, will be subject to compulsory quarantine for 14 days. Moreover, pursuant to the Compulsory Quarantine of Persons Arriving at Hong Kong from Foreign Places Regulation (Cap 599E), starting from March 19, all persons arriving from countries or territories outside China would also be subject to compulsory quarantine for 14 days. Breaching a quarantine order is a criminal offence and offenders are subject to a maximum fine of $25,000 and imprisonment for six months.

A spokesman for the Department of Health said the sentence sends a clear message to the community that breaching a compulsory quarantine order is a criminal offence that the Government will not tolerate, and solemnly reminded the public to comply with the Regulation. As of today, a total of 39 persons have been convicted by the courts for breaching compulsory quarantine orders and have received sentences including immediate imprisonment for up to three months or a fine of $15,000. The spokesman reiterated that resolute actions will be taken against anyone who has breached the relevant regulations.

Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital announces passing away of COVID-19 patient

The spokesperson for the Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital (PYNEH) today (August 25) announced that a 71-year-old male patient confirmed with COVID-19 (case number: 2890) passed away today.

The patient with chronic disease was admitted to PYNEH on July 25 after being tested positive for COVID-19. He was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit on August 9. His condition continued to deteriorate and he eventually succumbed at 7.56 pm today.

The Hospital was saddened about the passing away of the patient and would offer necessary assistance to his family members.

Including the above case, 78 COVID-19 patients have passed away in public hospitals so far.

To prevent pneumonia and respiratory tract infections, members of the public should always maintain good personal and environmental hygiene. They are advised to:

• Wear a surgical mask when taking public transport or staying in crowded places. It is important to wear a mask properly, including performing hand hygiene before wearing and after removing a mask;
• Perform hand hygiene frequently, especially before touching the mouth, nose or eyes, after touching public installations such as handrails or doorknobs, or when hands are contaminated by respiratory secretions after coughing or sneezing;
• Maintain drainage pipes properly and regularly (about once a week) pour about half a litre of water into each drain outlet (U-trap) to ensure environmental hygiene;
• Cover all floor drain outlets when they are not in use;
• After using the toilet, put the toilet lid down before flushing to avoid spreading germs;
• Wash hands with liquid soap and water, and rub for at least 20 seconds. Then rinse with water and dry with a disposable paper towel. If hand washing facilities are not available, or when hands are not visibly soiled, performing hand hygiene with 70 to 80 per cent alcohol-based handrub is an effective alternative;
• Cover your mouth and nose with tissue paper when sneezing or coughing. Dispose of soiled tissues into a lidded rubbish bin, then wash hands thoroughly; and
• When having respiratory symptoms, wear a surgical mask, refrain from work or attending class at school, avoid going to crowded places and seek medical advice promptly.
