The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

The spokesperson of Castle Peak Hospital (CPH) made the following announcement today (January 31):

Three female patients (aged 49 to 51) in a long stay ward had presented with diarrhea or vomiting symptoms since January 27.

Appropriate viral tests had been arranged for the concerned patients and their test results were positive to Rotavirus.

All patients have been transferred to Tuen Mun Hospital for treatment under isolation and are in stable condition.

Admission to the ward has been suspended and restricted visiting to the ward has been imposed. Infection control measures have already been stepped up according to established guidelines. All other patients in the ward concerned are under close surveillance.

The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
