The spokesperson of Castle Peak Hospital (CPH) made the following announcement today (April 13):

Since April 11, a total of three patients (two female and 1 male, aged from 22 to 44) and one staff member of a mixed rehabilitation ward of CPH have presented with respiratory symptoms. Appropriate tests were arranged for the patients. Results for two of the patients were positive for parainfluenza virus (PIV) type 3. All the patients are being treated under isolation and in stable condition. The staff member has recovered. Admission to the ward has been suspended. Restricted visits to and discharge from the ward have been imposed. Infection control measures in the ward concerned have been stepped up. All other patients in the ward are under close medical surveillance.

The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for follow up.

Regarding a mixed rehabilitation ward at Castle Peak Hospital (CPH) in which some patients had tested positive for parainfluenza virus (PIV) type 3, the hospital spokesperson announced the following update today (April 14):

One more male patient and one staff member in the ward have presented with respiratory symptoms. Appropriate tests were arranged for the 68-year-old patient and the results are pending. The patient is being treated under isolation and is in stable condition. The staff member is on sick leave. Admission to the ward has been suspended. Restricted visits to and discharge from the ward have been imposed. Infection control measures of the ward concerned have been stepped up. All other patients in the ward are under close surveillance.

The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for follow up.
