Cluster of Norovirus cases in Siu Lam Hospital
The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:
The spokesperson of Siu Lam Hospital made the following announcement today (August 14):
Four patients (aged 18 to 35) in a female severe mentally handicapped ward had presented with diarrhoea or vomiting symptoms since August 10.
Appropriate viral tests were arranged for the patients.
The test results for all patients were positive for Norovirus.
The patients are being treated under isolation and are in stable condition.
Admission to and discharge from the ward have been suspended. Restricted visiting to the ward has been imposed.
Infection control measures have already been stepped up according to established guidelines. All other patients in the ward concerned are under close surveillance.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.
