Cluster of Norovirus cases at Kowloon Hospital
The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:
The spokesperson for Kowloon Hospital (KH) made the following announcement today (July 20):
Four patients (aged 74 to 89) of a female rehabilitation ward have presented with vomiting and diarrhoea symptoms since July 16.
Appropriate viral tests have been arranged for the patients and all were positive for Norovirus.
The patients are being treated under isolation and are in a stable condition.
Admission to the ward has been suspended and restricted visiting has been imposed. Infection control measures have already been stepped up according to established guidelines. The other patients in the ward are under close surveillance.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.

Regarding the cases of Norovirus infection in Kowloon Hospital (KH), the hospital spokesperson announced the following update today (July 21):
One more 60-year-old patient of the concerned female rehabilitation ward has presented with vomiting and diarrhoea symptoms today.
Appropriate tests have been arranged for her and the result was positive to Norovirus.
The patient is being treated under isolation and in stable condition.
Admission to the ward has been suspended and restricted visiting to the ward has been imposed. Infection control measures have already been stepped up according to established guidelines. All other patients in the concerned ward are under close surveillance.
The case has been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.

Regarding a rehabilitation ward in Kowloon Hospital in which some patients had infected with Norovirus recently, the hospital announced the following updates today (July 23):
Three more female patients (aged 64 to 90) of the concerned ward have presented with vomiting and diarrhoea symptoms.
Appropriate viral tests have been arranged for the patients and their results all were positive to Norovirus.
The patients are being treated under isolation and are in stable condition.
Admission to the ward has been suspended and restricted visiting to the ward has been imposed. Infection control measures have already been stepped up according to established guidelines. All other patients in the concerned ward are under close surveillance.

All of the patients are being treated under isolation and are in stable condition.
