A spokesperson for Castle Peak Hospital made the following announcement today (January 18):

A total of six patients (aged 22 to 52) and a staff member of a male ward have presented with diarrhea or vomiting symptoms since January 13.

Appropriate viral tests were arranged and test results for all patients proved positive for Norovirus.

All the patients are being treated under isolation and in stable condition. The staff member concerned is on sick leave.

Admission to the ward has been suspended. Restricted visiting conditions and discharge from the ward have been imposed.

Infection control measures have already been stepped up at the ward. All other patients in the ward are under close monitoring.

The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
