The TWGHs Wong Tai Sin Hospital (WTSH) spokesperson made the following announcement today (October 14):
Nine female patients (aged 23 to 87) and two staff members of an infirmary ward in WTSH have presented with fever, sore throat or cough symptoms since October 8.
Appropriate viral tests have been arranged for the patients. The results of seven patients are positive to Human Swine Influenza virus.
The patients are now on Tamiflu treatment and under isolation. The condition of seven patients are stable while two are serious.
The staff members concerned have attended private doctors and were given sick leave.
Deep cleansing and disinfection have been conducted in the concerned ward and infection control measures have already been enhanced.
Admission to and discharge from the ward are suspended for the time being. Restricted visiting policy is also enforced. All patients and staff in the ward are under close surveillance.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:
Regarding some patients being infected with human swine influenza in an infirmary ward in Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Wong Tai Sin Hospital, the hospital spokesman announced the following update today (October 15):
There are 12 more female patients (aged between 45 and 93) in the concerned ward presented with fever, sore throat or cough symptom.
The patients are being treated under isolation and all are in stable condition. Appropriate tests are being carried out and the results of eight patients are positive to human swine influenza.
Deep cleansing and disinfection have been conducted in the concerned ward.
Infection control measures have already been enhanced.
Admission to and discharge from the ward are suspended for the time being. No visiting policy to the ward is also implemented. All patients and staff in the ward are under close surveillance.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.

There are four more female patients (aged between 82-95 years old) in the concerned ward presented with fever, sore throat or cough symptom.
The patients are being treated under isolation and three of them are in stable condition, one of them is in poor condition.
Appropriate tests are being carried out and the results are pending.
Deep cleansing and disinfection have been conducted in the concerned ward. Infection control measures have already been enhanced. Admission to and discharge from the ward are suspended for the time being. No visiting policy to the ward is also implemented. All patients and staff in the ward are under close surveillance.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
