An Australian tourist has died from swine flu in Russia. He contracted the virus when he sat next to a man who had swine flu on a flight from Hong Kong to Moscow.

Two men died from swine flu in Hong Kong last weekend, bringing the number of deaths to eight since January 24. Hong Kong's Hospital Authority said 53 people had been in intensive care after contracting swine flu in the past fortnight, including six new cases involving three women aged 36 to 65 and three males aged seven to 47. More then 90 per cent of flu cases reported in the city this year have been attributed to swine flu.
