Honduras recorded new outbreak of dengue

Honduras recorded 596 dengue cases in the first four weeks of this year that triggered alarms health authorities, local media disclosed this Sunday.

According to the Ministry of Health, 45 percent of cases are located in the capital and the resurgence of the epidemic is largely due to the neglect of the population, due to the lack of information and awareness of the danger of the disease.

Health reports 728 dengue cases in 2014

The Head of Epidemiological Surveillance Ministry of Health, Lara Bredy, today reported that the fifth EW have 728 dengue cases nationwide, of which 132 were recorded in the fifth week.

In the last weeks of 2013 and these five in 2014, there has been a slight decrease and this is part of the work that has been carried on activities that people do and will continue to make, for the elimination of breeding, he said.

San Pedro Sula and Tegucigalpa remain the cities with the largest number of cases.

TEGUCIGALPA,Honduras Dengue cases in epidemiological week number eight totaling 1,174, authorities said Tuesday the Ministry of Health of Honduras. Three year old girl is the first fatality of DHF in Honduras

The second death from dengue is a woman of 24 years of San Pedro Sula.

Tegucigalpa, Honduras
Authorities Health Ministry confirmed on Monday the second fatality from hemorrhagic dengue so far in 2014.
Undersecretary of Health, Francis Contreras, said "the second death from dengue is a female persons 24 years of age, have confirmed that he has died of hemorrhagic dengue."

So far this year two people have died of the disease according to the Health Ministry.

According to the official, this week there was a slight decrease case, but the trends are similar to the previous weeks. Honduras records five deaths and more than 18,000 dengue cases in 2014

Honduras registered more than 18,000 cases of dengue so far this year, of which 1,184 are suspected of severe or hemorrhagic variety, which caused five deaths, an official said today.

From January to date Honduras has recorded 18,116 dengue cases, 5,000 less than the 23,116 recorded during the same period in 2013, told reporters the director of health surveillance in the Central American country, Bredy Lara.

He added that in the last week two women, whose name and age not specified, died of dengue at hospitals in the Honduran capital, while another female died in the northern department of Cort?s.
