Tegucigalpa, June 21 (EFE) .- The Honduran health authorities warned this Tuesday of the increase in dengue cases among the population, which could lead them to declare an epidemic due to the disease, which leaves four dead and 7,264 cases in the country. this year.

"How the figures are going and if the population does not take the necessary measures, an epidemic could be declared in the coming weeks," Raúl Barahona, coordinator of the Dengue Epidemiological Surveillance of the Honduran Ministry of Health, told reporters.

Honduras registers 7,264 dengue patients, of which 7,123 correspond to the classic type or without warning signs and 145 to the severe or hemorrhagic variety, he detailed.

Barahona indicated that the Central American country registers an average of 800 cases of dengue per week, most of them of the classic type, and four deaths from the severe type.

Of the total deaths, two were reported in the department of Comayagua (center), one in Colón (Caribbean) and one more in Tegucigalpa, the Honduran capital, he added.

Tegucigalpa, Jul 26 (EFE) .- Honduras adds four deaths from dengue and 12,139 people infected with the same disease, reported this Tuesday the interim coordinator of chronic non-communicable diseases of the Ministry of Health, Aron Bueso.

The official told journalists that of the 12,139 infected cases, 11,905 are classic dengue or without warning signs, and 234 are severe or hemorrhagic, to which four deaths confirmed through laboratory results are added.

He added that the health authorities are analyzing the causes of death of another person who presented the same symptoms of dengue, a disease that can be fatal in its hemorrhagic form.

It is a 26-year-old woman who died at the Hospital Escuela in the Honduran capital, Bueso said.

Of the 18 departments of the country, those that register the most cases of dengue patients are Francisco Morazán (center), Cortés and Yoro (north); Choluteca (south), El Paraíso and Olancho (east); Atlantis and Columbus (Caribbean)...
