A single mother from Colorado Springs was asked to leave a homeless shelter after her son came down with symptoms of H1N1. The shelter says it asked them to leave for the safety of the hundreds of people it houses.

The Colorado Springs mother, who we'll call 'Rose', asked not to be identified. She says she's hit some hard times in the last few months. She lost her job, then her home. "We went from a three bedroom to nothing," said ?Rose.?

'Rose' and her son are being put up in a motel. Her son was sent home from school when he showed signs of a fever. His doctor ordered tests for H1N1. Until he gets clearance, the boy can't go to school, or back to the shelter.

"As soon as I told them we were more or less homeless again," said ?Rose.? But the shelter stepped in, and found resources to give them a roof over their heads. The shelter will only last for a few days.

"To my son, I said, 'I'm trying the best that I can.' and I said, 'now I've failed again, I feel like I'm failing.'"

11 News talked with Major Don Gilger who runs the shelter. "We, in good conscience can't, once people are quarantined or identified can't allow them to come back into the shelter and infect everyone else," said Gilger.

Rose says she understands, but she's still struggling because she only has a place to sleep for a few more restless nights. "Then I have no idea,? said ?Rose.? ?We're like living in limbo, I hate to say it but that's about the only way I know how to say it."

The shelter emphasized, its employees are trying to find help for this family. But until the boy's H1N1 test results come back there are no definite answers.

Below is a list of H1N1 symptoms:
? Fever
? Chills
? Sore throat
? Cough
? Congestion
? Headache, body aches
? Fatigue
? Vomiting
? Diarrhea (especially in children)
