Hoffman-La Roche and HHS Announce Tamiflu Program for Corporations

Re: Hoffman-La Roche and HHS Announce Tamiflu Program for Corporations

Current non-pandemic, and pandemic delivery times are at the oposite points.

Even in the past bf spreading scare times the delivery was not in time, it exceed many months after.

Re: Hoffman-La Roche and HHS Announce Tamiflu Program for Corporations

Roche must give honest estimates of their expected delivery times
should a pandemic start immediately.
Someone must check this independently, occasionally.

Can't WHO,FDA,EMEA,.. serve as independent agencies
to recommend drug-plans ?
They should be more trustworthy than governments

Re: Hoffman-La Roche and HHS Announce Tamiflu Program for Corporations

An possible coll. efect can be that scheduled but not physicaly received stocks can became an acquiring subject to various parts lobying when a serious pandemic starts, or maybe to rise exponentialy in price.

But the cited initiative seems good to bypassing the problem of corp./gov. unwilingness to spend (maybe unnecessary, if pand. would not happens) money for workforce antiviral stocks:
"... a program to encourage more businesses to stockpile the drug to protect employees in case of an influenza pandemic.
... the program is designed to remove some of the obstacles that have made many businesses hesitate to stockpile the drug, which is recommended as first-line treatment in a pandemic. For an annual fee, companies can secure a supply of Tamiflu, which will be stored, secured, rotated, and kept current by Roche."

The same can be arranged for the workforce pre-pand. vaccines if the govs don't pay for them.

Re: Hoffman-La Roche and HHS Announce Tamiflu Program for Corporations

When I first read this, I thought it was good news. Then, I decided it's just another prioritization scheme. What about all those people who don't work for companies with over 2500 people? It is a step in the right direction, though.

I think our govt must loosen up restrictions and allow individuals to purchase their own Tamiflu and vax. People who have the money to do so probably will; that will leave the stockpile available for shortages and for those who can't afford to buy their own.

The possibility that our govt will stockpile, deny individuals the chance to purchase and then play God, makes me do this: :banghead: and this :taz:

Re: Hoffman-La Roche and HHS Announce Tamiflu Program for Corporations

 + :D ,
can somebody find some vacc. or meds for this poor devil :taz:, to preserve this species from the deadly illness also?
___

Hi mixin,
what now seems only a possibility, in an pandemic event would be a certainty.

You can bet that no antivirals, or vacc., would be allowed to be privately buyed, nor it would be internat. reacheable (VIP's excluded), at the same moment an real serious pandemic starts.

That's why this initiative is still an step forward, because the countries mostly rely on "purchased only" pre-pandemic vacc., and mostly for an 20% of ("neccess.") population (based on the seasonal flu case infection rate).

Until the countries would not stored preventively doses for 100% citizens of vacc./antivir., by this way it would be resolved much more citizens who otherwise would remain without any prevention (and be pushed to work at the same time).
It's easy when everything is all right, but if things gone worst, the thiny "civilisation mode" would gone back to other registries.
