The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

The spokesperson for Kowloon Hospital made the following announcement today (January 7):

Three patients (aged 83 to 96) of a female rehabilitation ward had presented with vomiting and diarrhoea symptoms since December 26. 2014. Appropriate viral tests were arranged for the patients and all were positive for Norovirus. The patients are being treated under isolation and are in stable condition.

Regarding an earlier announcement on a cluster of patients infected with Influenza A in a male psychiatric ward, it was confirmed today that one more 50-year-old patient tested positive for Influenza A. The patient concerned is being treated under isolation and is in stable condition.

Admission to the wards concerned has been suspended and restricted visiting has also been imposed. Infection control measures have already been stepped up according to established guidelines. All other patients in the wards concerned are under close surveillance.

The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.
