? Epidemiological comments
The last outbreak started on 8 April 2008.
Culling, disinfection and ring vaccination of backyard poultry in surrounding localities finished on 8 May 2008.
Since then, there have been no further outbreaks in the country.
Therefore, according to the Article 10.4.4. of the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code (2008), Russia declared itself free from highly pathogenic avian influenza with effect from 8 August 2008.
