• Epidemiological comments
  • On 1st March 2010, Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department was informed about an abnormal mortality in chickens in Thayetkan village. A field investigation was conducted and samples were collected from dead chicken.
  • There are 30 farmers in the village with a total of 13,450 chickens (all laying hens).
  • Poultry will be culled within a 1-km radius of the infected premises.
  • This outbreak is no epidemiologically linked to the recent Yangon outbreak.
