  • Considering the OIE/FAO guidelines and recommendations the following measures were applied:
    • Destruction of all susceptible birds in the affected villages,
    • Cleansing and disinfection of the infected premises,
    • Establishment of protection and surveillance zones around the outbreak area,
    • Restrictions on movements of poultry and on the use of products liable to be contaminated by tightening biosecurity measures at all levels of poultry production,
    • Post-outbreak active surveillance and monitoring: all villages in the surveillance zones were visited to ensure the detection of any other infected villages, but no positive clinical scenario was found up to date,
    • Collection of 6,511 swabs and 17,143 serum samples from 403 villages in continuation of the post-outbreak active surveillance. All the results were negative.
  • A stamping-out policy, including disinfection of all affected establishments, has been applied for 3 months; as well as surveillance in accordance with Articles 10.4.27 to 10.4.33 of the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code has been carried out during that three-month period.
  • According to Article 10.4.4 of the Terrestrial Code, Iran declares regaining its free status in relation to HPAI.
