The last index case was culled on 19 June 2008 and disinfection operations were completed on 22 June 2008.
All serosurveillance results obtained within a 10-km-radius zone around the outbreak area were negative.
Monitoring and serosurveillance will continue.
Since there have been no further outbreaks in the country since 19 June 2008, Pakistan declares itself free of highly pathogenic notifiable avian influenza with effect from 22 September 2008.
