During the surveillance activities on poultry workers entered in contact with diseased birds in the highly pathogenic avian influenza A/(H7N7) affected farms, reported in Emilia-Romagna Region since the beginning of August 2013, two human cases of infections with the virus have been confirmed (both in individuals involved in poultry farming at Mordano).

Both cases have been confirmed by National Institute of Health: the first one on September 2 2013, and the second on September 4 2013.
