Hepatitis A outbreak prompts health warnings

SALT LAKE CITY ? The Utah Department of Health and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control are asking people who have traveled to the Tulum, Mexico region recently to talk to their doctor about hepatitis.

Between January and March of this year, 31 travelers, including one from Utah, contracted the viral illness while visiting Tulum. In order to prevent infection, those who have traveled there recently are being encouraged to talk to their health care provider about receiving the hepatitis vaccine of immune globulin, which can prevent or reduce symptoms if given within 14 days of exposure...

[h=3]What is the current situation?[/h] As of May 1, 2015, a total of 27 cases of hepatitis A have been reported in US travelers who went to Tulum, Mexico. All of the people traveled between the dates of February 15, 2015, and March 20, 2015.
