Hebei Reported 20 Cases and 9 Death of H7N9 Avian Flu in May

Xinhua net Shijiazhuang, June 19 (Reporter: Hao Hua)
Hebei Provincial HFPC on June 19, 2017, published the province's statutory report of infectious diseases reported in May, according to statistics, the province had 20 cases and 9 deaths of H7N9 avian flu in May.
The report shows that the first five cases of Class-B infectious diseases reported in Hebei Province in May were; viral hepatitis, tuberculosis, syphilis, dysentery and scarlet fever.
The first five Class-C infectious diseases were; diarrheal diseases, HFMD (hand, foot & mouth disease), influenza, mumps, acute hemorrhagic conjunctivitis, rubella, typhus and leprosy.
In May 2017, Hebei reported a total of 26051 cases of Class-B and -C infectious diseases, and 30 cases of total deaths. There were cases of death in: AIDS, H7N9 avian flu, Tuberculosis, Viral hepatitis, Rabies and HFMD (hand, foot & mouth disease). Among them, there were human infection H7N9 incidence of 20 cases, and 9 death cases.
It is understood that the most important risk factor for H7N9 avian flu virus is the direct or indirect exposure to contaminated live poultry or the environment infected by the sick birds. Surveillance shows that although there were occasional localized cases (2-3 cases per each incident, there was no recurrence cases) occurred, but there is no evidence that H7N9 virus can continue to "human to human transmission."
At present, Shijiazhuang City, a number of farmers markets have already put posters to prevent H7N9 virus in the eye-catching position, and there are live poultry sales stalls for normal business, the people?s attitude toward the poultry products is kept rational.
Experts recommend that people buy white or cold poultry, try to avoid direct contact with live poultry; poultry farming, slaughter or related practitioners should do personal protection well. If anyone have fever after contacting live birds, go to the hospital as soon as possible and explain the doctor(s) about bird contact history.
