The Chief Epidemiologist of the Ministry of Health, Julio Armero, today confirmed two new cases of influenza A H1N1 during the week.
The doctor also reported an increase in pneumonia, which increased from 1.148 to 1.152 cases, and therefore recommends to the citizens to abide by recommendations for preventing the spread of the epidemic.
He added that June is considered the month in which regrowth was evident respiratory diseases.
The official statements were provided in the context of his visit today the director of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC, for its acronym in English), Thomas Frieden for Unity Sentinel for the Epidemiological Monitoring of San Juan de Dios Hospital in Santa Ana
The medical center is one of five in the country have enabled Centinela Unit with support from CDC.
"All these efforts have enabled the Ministry of Health in El Salvador begin to generate good quality data to determine when influenza occurs in El Salvador, key information for the strengthening of prevention and control strategies," the official said
