MADRID, 7 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -
The Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS) under the Ministry of Health and Social Policy, has issued recommendations Wednesday in Spain for the manufacture of vaccines against influenza, which for the new season 2010/2011 should include strains of influenza A (H1N1) and seasonal influenza.
The new wording - which would include two strains of influenza A (H1N1 and H3N2) and influenza B (B Brisbane) - has been issued by the World Health Organization (WHO) and approved by an expert group European Union (EU), which has been considered as "adequate" is trivalent vaccine according to the epidemiological situation in Europe.
In this sense, the Competent Authority reports that from 1 September this year, can not be dispensed with different seasonal influenza vaccine composition recommended by the WHO, a ban which includes monovalent pandemic flu vaccine used last winter to combat influenza A.
Health acquired last summer a total of 37 million doses of monovalent influenza A request was reduced to 13 million when it seemed to work with a single dose. The latest information on immunization, only been used three of the 13 million vaccines purchased, but the ministry claims to have protocols for the return of surplus to the pharmaceutical or donation to impoverished countries.
