EL PASO, Texas -- The death of a 9-year-old child is El Paso County's 10th H1N1-flu related death, El Paso Department of Public Health officials confirmed Wednesday.
The child, a Northeast El Paso resident, was recently hospitalized with a flu-like illness and lab tests confirmed the child had the H1N1 virus, officials said.
City health officials did not release the child's identity or say when the child died. Officials also did not release if the child had any underlying health conditions.
Earlier this week, city health officials announced a 7-month-old baby from Central El Paso died due to the H1N1 flu. The baby had underlying health conditions, officials said.
On Oct. 26, officials reported that a 75-year-old woman from Central El Paso was the county's eighth death related to the H1N1 flu. The woman also had underlying health conditions, according to the Department of Public Health.
